Dreher Volleyball faces Irmo and Westwood this week in region play!!!
Dreher girls volleyball team came into the season with a lot of unknown due to Covid-19 and much of that was contributed to the lack of practice and court the ladies were able to obtain. Strict rules and covid guidelines plagued much of the area from any practices taking place. Three weeks into the season and only a
few weeks left, the covid bug hit early with several area teams having to postpone and reschedule games and for Dreher girls an opportunity to play for pride doing something they love to do.
With the unpredictable season looming, the high school mandated for all sports that only the top two teams in the region could make the playoffs leaving tight spots for anyone with one or more loss. “We’re glad that we’re playing volleyball. Two months ago, we didn’t think we were even going to be at this point. It’s definitely not your typical season but we are taking advantage of every opportunity and situation being presented to us. Our goal is to get better every day and we will continue to work to achieve that goal,” Coach Heather Webb, Head girls volleyball coach at Dreher.
Although this season is wacky as they come, now isn’t the time to worry about not making playoffs or winning championships. As Coach Webb has stressed this about making sure her girls understand how important these games are from a sports can be taken from you at any moment point of view. Enjoy your time together as teammates and make the season as great as possible for the seniors on the team who will make their last hurrah in a world full of unknowns.
